Joining Our Mailing Lists

Discover how to easily join the widownet or widowhoods mailing lists and connect with a supportive community.

Step One: Choose Your Mailing List

Log into your google account. Visit http://groupsgoogle.com

Select either the widownet2 or widowhoods list.

Step Two: Subscribe

You should see a button to join the group.

Alternately, you can send an email with the format:

<groupname>+subscribe@googlegroups.com

Step Three: Engage and Support

What are the widownet and widowhoods mailing lists?

They are email groups where widows and widowers share support and resources on grief and recovery. The list “widow” was was created in 1995 as a majordomo email list. It is now named WidowNet is is served via groupsgoogle.com.

The WidowHoods email list was created as a majordomo list in 1996 or 1997 to provide a space for an existing group of widows and widowers looking for a new host.

Although the website has evolved to offer additional ways for people to interact, some still prefer the email lists to stay connected.

How busy are the lists?

The number of emails generated each day is a function of the number of members of each group. As of February 2026, The lists generate 10-20 emails per day.

Are the mailing lists moderated for privacy and respect?

No.

Can I unsubscribe from the mailing lists anytime?

Yes, you can easily unsubscribe by following the instructions in any mailing list email.
